Dr Peter Binyaruka is an economist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics (2009) and a masters’ degree in Economics (2012) from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). In 2018, he completed his PhD in Health Economics from the University of Bergen, Norway. Dr Binyaruka has more than ten years of experience in doing research in Tanzania. He extensively conducted health system research particularly in monitoring and evaluating health care financing reforms in Tanzania. He has also offered various consultancy services to reputable institutions in partnership with various consulting firms in Tanzania. Dr Binyaruka is well experienced in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. He has led and coordinated a number of big surveys of households, health workers and health facilities. He has strong skills in data analysis using STATA, Excel and SPSS software; and he is experienced in analysing larger dataset like Household Budget Survey (HBS) and Demographic Health Survey (DHS). Dr Binyaruka also teaches health economics and economic evaluation at the Nelson Mandela African Institution for Science and Technology (NM- AIST) in Bagamoyo; and a distance learning Tutor in Equity Analysis with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). Dr Binyaruka has published more than twenty peer-reviewed journal articles, and mostly as first author; also published reports, policy briefs, and scientific blogs. At TanMetric company, Dr Binyaruka is responsible for providing overall leadership and guidance for all services rendered to clients.
