History of TanMetric

The ‘virtual’ company was founded by Dr Peter Binyaruka after completing his PhD studies in 2018, and officially established in 2021. Dr Binyaruka was inspired to establish a reputable research consulting firm based on his experience of working with a private research institution in Tanzania. Based on his previous work, he managed to secure a good track-record in designing, implementing, leading research projects, as well as influencing change through evidence-based research. When he was conducting various researches in Tanzania, he realised most services (especially public services) are poorly delivered to end users/ consumers, and there is huge knowledge gap between what communities think versus policy makers perspectives or plans. This stimulated Dr Binyaruka’s passion to contribute in bridging the knowledge gap between lower-level communities or disadvantaged populations and policy makers, through evidence-based information to inform redesigning or formulation of new strategies or policies for service delivery in Tanzania. As an economist, he is also passionate with research around program evaluations and equity assessments to ensure efficient use and equitable allocation of limited resources. Given that background, Dr Binyaruka realised the journey is too long for himself especially in an institution with multiple research focus. He therefore decided to establish a research company as a platform to jointly work with multiple partners, experts, institutions, and donors to bridge the knowledge gap; and capacitate emerging experts to offer evidence-based information for improving service delivery across sectors.
